Feedback

What effect did it have on learning?

The vocabulary diary has allowed all the LDD learners who have used it to develop a more professional vocabulary. The diary has been used in conjunction with the students visits to the Horse riding stables – the diary has been invaluable for both the learners and those working at the stables. Much better communication between students and staff has developed as a result.

Have you extended the ARC to other groups?

The intention is to expand the vocabulary diary to the rest of the curriculum area next academic year.

Did the ARC project work for some or all learners?

The ARC project has worked for all the learners who participated. Learners have found compiling their diary fun and engaging. Due to the nature of the learners, they found building a paper based book diary better as it is more tactile.

What would you consider the highest impact the ARC has had?

Learners of a E2 level would now have a really good chance at passing a L1 stable management course. Two learners have even been offered a work placement at the Horse riding stables. It was felt that the vocabulary diary has been a major contributor to these impacts.

Furthermore, it has been commented that by developing the vocabulary diary, this has led onto the development of more teaching resources e.g. a questioning cube; an information wheel etc.

How has it affected the team?

No chance to discuss with the rest of the team, however this is planned for September.

What are you plans next year?

It is expected that the vocabulary diary will be developed further and also rolled out to the rest of the curriculum area.
